Devarim and Na Nach
In this weeks Parsha, Parshas Devarim, we read that Hashem said to the Jews, "Turn yourselves and journey. . .until the great river, the Euphrates River" (1, 7). Rashi comments on why it was called "great": "Because it is mentioned with the Land of Israel, it is called great. As the common saying goes, the slave of a king is a king. Attach yourself to a potentate (a powerful person) and they will bow to you. Come into contact with one who is anointed and become anointed yourself." We see that just by having a connection to something pure, a person can become pure. In the same way, Rebbe Nachman said that anyone who attaches to him can also become pure and holy and a Tzadik even, just like him. By connecting to the holy and pure path of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman, anyone can become pure, even the lowliest people. May we all merit this. Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!
