The Jewish Journal (Of Greater Los Angeles)

Volume 26 (Geamtriyah YKVK), Issue 26, for the 26th of Av - 2nd Elul 2011.
This issue's front cover features a picture of a man blowing a shofar and Nanach banner. This is great to see considering that this publication has a liberal agenda and is typically filled with kfira.

Learn from the Klipa

When a person falls into the klipa (evil husks) God forbid, this was also the will of God and Rabbainu, obviously he/she must repent and be remorseful for falling, but even more important he should not be blasphemous in thinking that his falling was outside of the Will of God. One must understand that God is One, there is nothing outside of God, God forbid. Allowing for the possibility, G"f, that there are forces outside of God, is the greatest sin and extremely harmful (this is in fact why christianity is so hideous, because by taking away from the absolute unity of God, God being absolute infinite goodness, one introduces evil and suffering unparalleled).

When one understands that God was with him even in the utter descent, he will have invoked infinite good and rectification. There is much to be said about that, as Rabbainu revealed at great length, especially regarding the secret of "Ayeh" - where, but here I would like to point out just one ramification.

Every place that a person finds himself, his whole surrounding and awareness are God speaking to him. The more a person gets used to discussing everything with God, as one does with a friend, the more he will devolop and be adept at understanding what God is telling him.

When a person falls into lust or desires, there are "sparks" of holiness there, translated into practical usage, this means that one can learn from the nature of the lust or desire how he should and could be relating to God.

This is an area which in my opinion is considered secrets of the Torah, because they are things that can not be discussed, for to talk about them one would have to relate the coarse and vulgar desire or act which could be very harmful and probably forbidden to even talk about. Even if it seems to one person that the nature of a particular desire or lost is very common and known to his friends, it might not be the case, and even if it is so, maybe the words he chooses or just the fact that he chose to speak about it, can implant bad messages into his friend's mind and consciousness. Therefore in this realm one has to put himself on the level of the Tzadikim that are privy to the secrets of the Torah and beseech God to reveal and invest him with the sparks of holiness that were there for him to glean, to know how to serve God and be holy with the experiences God shared with him.

Torah Portion of RiAy

In this weeks Parsha the Torah commands two times (Deuteronomy 15:8, 15:11) Pusoach Tiftach Es Yudcha - Open your hands (to give charity). The Torah spell the word Pusoach with only three letters, thus providing an inclusive value of the three letters to the numerical value of the word = 491 - Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman, the beginning of all charity. Also the acronym of this commandment has the gimatria (numerical value) of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman. It is also noteworthy that this commandment is mentioned twice, and each time the Torah repeats the word Pusoach, thus the word in mentioned 4 times, an allusion to the song which is single, double, triple, quadruple - Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman.

The Land of the Rich

In the Rabbi Nachman's stories, Tales From Ancient Times (available for free download at, in the story of the Master of Prayer, he discusses a group that worships money, this group went out seeking a land that was propitious for wealth. It looks like scientists have found something of that nature:

Service of God and Making a Livelihood

The holy book Koachvay Ohr (Illuminating Stars: The followers of Rabbi Nachman, 14) recounts the travails of Rabbi Nussun when he began to draw close to Rabbainu. Rabbi Nussun was so infused with awareness of the future world consciousness he valued every second tremendously and was extremely diligent to consecrate all his time and effort to pursuits of holiness in prayer and Torah Study. He gradually stopped all his efforts at earning a livelihood, which led to his father getting very upset with him, kicking him out of the house. Rabbi Nussun was then on his own with a very dwindling income. One day when Rabbi Nussun came home his wife complained to him about not having any money and that she had already started to run into debt, causing Rabbi Nussun to feel very bitter and miserable. Rabbi Nussun went with to a different room and cried out to God: "Master of the World, isn't it so that before a person becomes 'kosher' in truth, the matter necessitates a prolonged processing, so meanwhile - for the time being - give me a livelihood". Rabbi Nussun told this over saying that his prayer was answered... (see the whole story there).

This story is disconcerting, if Rabbi Nussun, - who was a brilliant genius fluent and knowledgeable in all of Torah, and was visiting Rabbainu to learn from him directly, and Rabbainu was giving him specific rectifications and guidance according to the roots of his soul, - even still he ascertained that it would take him a prolonged process to be truly kosher, what's with us?!

[So for sure in the meantime let H"Y give us all the necessary livelihood.]

Our sole comfort and hope is that now in our times Rabbainu has revealed himself as the New Song, the Song of Redemption which renews the world in Faith, and B"H with the power of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman we will succeed!

This Weeks Torah Portion - Parshas Eikev ('as a result' - 'heel')

When the Jews were told to go up into the Holy Land they feared the warnings of the spies and didn't go up and they rebelled against "the mouth (word)" of God (9:23), the gematria of "the mouth" is Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman [anyone interested in seeing the actual Hebrew words can find them on the Hebrew].

Later in the Parsha, there is a verse regarding the congregation of Korach, 'the land opened it's mouth', which also includes in it the numerical value of 'the mouth' - Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman. There is another amazing find in these four words, for they are an anagram containing in them the letters P'Tz'P'Tz'Y'H - the holy name mentioned in the Petek, the name of the angel in charge of the sounds of the Shofar on the New Years, in addition it has the letters Tuv Resh Tuv, which is how the holy books write Tikeya Teruah Tikeya - the names of a distinct sounding of the Shofar. There remains four letters: H'A' H'A'!!!!!

Stories of Nanach Miracles

B"H two days ago I did some hitching and I had some amazing experiences, unfortunately I couldn't get it all down, but a little is also good.

One of the guys that picked me up told me that his wife had read a book called Mikeemey ("lifted me up") written by an Israeli actress who returned to her roots. The author writes how when she started to repent, whenever she had problems with her car, she would say, "Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman", and all would be good. So one day this guy gets a call from his wife telling him that her car broke down and she is stuck. So this guy starts driving in her direction to help her out. A few minutes later he gets another call from her that all is good. He asks her how she managed that, and she tells him that she remembered what she read in Mikeemey, that when there's a problem with the car she said Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman and all was good, so she said, Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman, and all was good!

Another guy who picked me up, had beanie, no beard, no pehyos, no hair at all, he had two little kids in the back. He told me that he was in middle of reading a book from Rabbainu and started to tell me Torah from Rabbainu, and he was extolling the awesomeness of the Holy Land. It was quite amazing.

Another guy who gave me a ride, also with two young children in the back, told me that he was secular till about 10 years ago, when he started to observe the Torah (not in a chareidi way - he was wearing shorts). So of course he knew stuff from Rabbainu, but by him Rabbainu was just another Rabbi, but he was fascinated by Na Nach and he took his attention away from his children to pursue the topic of Nanach. He challenged me claiming that Nanach over-does the stature and importance of Rabbainu (which in truth is the opposite). Eventually he had to entertain the children, so I sang for them some hard core Nanach songs, and they got right into it B"H.... There's much more to this story, but it's hard for me to write. They got Nanached!

New Nanach Song in Yiddish

B"H last night on our way back from a GIVALD Nanach wedding in the northern Tel Hai, waiting for a ride from Safed to Meron, we merited to see quite a bit of action, and to this new GIVALD Yiddish Nanach song.

Emunah Me'eretz Tismach

bsd This Ibei Hanachal has come to me several times and is a great comfort and assurance to me. I translated it and made a page for it at:

A brief excerpt from the unabridged version (which is not included in the abridged):

Letter #12
B"H 7 Tammuz, 5718
In the last days the falsehood will strengthen and spread out very far and wide, boundless, to cause the whole world to stray, God forbid, from Hashem Yitbarakh, and to seize everything in its lies with many many kinds of seductions and incitements and smooth and cunning words and vain proofs and evidences, but because of the wide spread of the falsehood, until it is close to its assuagement and rest, God forbid, that nearly all are astray its lies, God forbid, then specifically because of the great great abundance of falseness the falseness will reverse to the truth, and through this alone will be the suppression of the lies and its nullification, and from there specifically shall the truth return and sprout out, in the aspect of "emet me'eretz titzmach/the truth springs out of the earth" (Ps. 85:11) -- from the eretz specifically, since it is cast to the dust and earth, and that is when the truth will be revealed.

Moshe Rabbenu was a Breslover

Parshat Vaetchanan, chazal tell us Moses beseeches hashem, 515 times, to enter Eretz yisroel. (Vaetchanan is the numerical value 515)
What was Moses' supplication? Hashem helped me to understand, the word Leimor in the first sentence refers to the two following sentences which were repeated 515 times
To repeat two sentences 515 times one must dance and sing them.
Afterwards I saw the Bal Haturim who says the numerical value of Vaetchanan is the same numerical value as Shirah (song)..

Happy T"U B'Av; Na Nach and Si Sim

Published for the first time in English on the Web. Shir Na`im was not included in the Breslov Research Institute publication of Likutei Moharan. Not sure if it was included in the latest Keren edition.

"...And his name of holiness [NACHMAN], and the name of his father [SIMCHAH] are stamped in the heads of the verses, double and tripled and quadrupled."

In this merit may all singles merit to go out and grab their zivug, and Hashem send us bountiful peace.

Journal of the Senate listening to Rabbainu!

This was posted previously but many didn't see it, and also here I will post the links.

Day 7 [ 2010]: Reverend Carl Gauck offered the following prayer:
“Life makes warriors of us all. To emerge the victors, we must arm ourselves with the most potent of weapons. That weapon is prayer.”
(Rebbi Nachman of Breslov)
Gracious God, we do come to You now in prayer. We pray in thanksgiving for safe travel and Your abiding presence. We pray for
encouragement that all the work that has been done is helpful to complete our work. We pray for open and dedicated minds so we might be
helpful one to the other in the work before us. And we pray that our efforts may produce the outcome that is most beneficial. In Your Holy
Name we pray. Amen.

Day 64 [Monday, May 4, 2009]: Reverend Carl Gauck offered the following prayer:
“All beginnings require that you unlock a new door.” (Rebbi Nachman of Breslov)
Heavenly Father, we begin a new week that requires us to see all that comes our way as fresh but filled with its own problems and
challenges. Help us to be willing to open new doors of cooperation and grant us patience so Your desires for us are fulfilled. Guide our words
and our efforts so we may be a blessing to others as we walk the path You lead us. In Your Holy Name we pray. Amen.

Day 67 [Tuesday, May 11, 2010]: Reverend Carl Gauck offered the following prayer:
“While praying, listen to the words very carefully. When your heart is attentive, your entire being enters your prayer without your having
to force it.” (Rebbe Nachman of Breslov)
Heavenly Father, we know that with all the demands on us and time away from those we love, we are not as centered as we have need
to be. Help us to pray and listen to those words and be centered in You. Help us to lovingly move among one another and work co-operatively
one with the other so our decisions are helpful, and our bills accomplish precisely what You desire. In Your Holy Name we pray. Amen.

Day 69 [Thursday, May 13, 2010]: Reverend Carl Gauck offered the following prayer:
“The highest peace is the peace between opposites.” (Rebbe Nachman of Breslov)
Almighty God, it is becoming a long week with just today and tomorrow to accomplish the many things that are before us. We are more
tired than usual and sometimes we grow short on patience so we need Your presence and help so we might be “slow to anger and abounding
with steadfast love.”. Walk with us as we discuss and discern that which is before us to live faithful lives, avoid temptations and make all
decisions according to Your intentions for us. In Your Holy Name we pray. Amen.

This Weeks Torah Portion - Parshas VuEschanan - And I Supplicated

The title of this weeks Parsha when read from left to right spells: NaNaCh TAV. These letters, in this formation, are directly addressed in the first Torah (lesson) of Rabbainu's Likutay Moharan (Collected Teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov), where Rabbi Nachman explains why prayers and supplications can seemingly go unheeded and how to get them answered. Rabbainu explains that the problem is that people are missing 'chain' - charm and grace, if a person can gain 'chain' he will make room in the heart of whom he is asking, and his supplication will be received properly. 'Chain' is composed of two Hebrew letters, Nun and Chais, by studying the holy Torah with strength and intensity one builds his 'malchus' - monarchy, putting his good inclination over his bad inclination, and thus can begin to see the wisdom and light of God that is in every matter of the world, and will thus attain 'chain. Upon gaining 'chain' he will gain the letter Tav, which meaning engraving, his words will be calm 'NaChaS' and will be received.

Tisha BiAv sees a huge fire on the sun

Rabbainu explains that the destruction of the Temple is all about FIRE, so it is not surprising that there was a huge fire on the sun on Tisha BiAv - the day commemorating the destruction of the Temple. The flare was not directed to earth, B"H for Nanach!

B"H a great new Nanach Song For This Weeks Parsha

The lyrics to this song are from the first verse of this weeks Torah portion: "And I supplicated to God at that time saying". And from another famous verse in this weeks parsha: "and you who are bound to Hashem your God alive you are all today". And of course: Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!

Importance of dancing applies to women as well

The truth is that this is obvious and doesn't need proof. However a short while ago there was a woman who published on her blog criticism against women dancing (even though her main point of contention was their dancing in public, she definitely insinuated that there was nothing positive about their dancing). The truth is quite clear all over the Torah that it is very important for women to dance (in mitzva). We find e.g. that evil queen Eezevel, wife of Achav, had one good point to her, that she would dance to bring joy to the brides, and for this her hands and feet were saved from hell. This Shabos I read in Kochvay Ohr from R' Avrohom ben R' Nachman that one time Rabbi Nachman daughter had a severe tooth ache, and without getting into the whole story, Rabbainu told her that there will come a time that she would be joyous and dance and then she would be healed. This is in fact what happened, one day she was filled with joy, she closed the shutters to the windows and danced, and she was cured.

Suggestion: Forgive even intentional wronging

On Shabos I read from R' Avrohom ben R' Nachman Tulchin, a suggestion that we try to forgive even those that intentional did us wrong C"V. He explains that Our Sages revealed that the whole exile we are suffering is due to the lack of love and comradeship, and obviously the satan is bending over backwards to do his utmost to keep us from getting along properly, and there is tremendous pressure on us to act out and not properly respect others. Therefor one should consider this, and also recognize his own weakness in this issue, and with this contemplation maybe one will find room in his heart even for someone who intentional did him wrong.

News from Israel

Today I saw a simple looking guy at the Rashbi and someone told me that this person was a litvack who had learned a lot of Torah and had smicha (rabbinate), then he found out about Rabbainu and started becoming Breslov, he prayed to forget all the Torah he had learned previously and started to learn everything anew.

This guy, he lives in Maalos, was once confronted by someone who told him terrible things about Saba Yisroel, so this guy was very disturbed to hear the slander and he went to the field to do hisbodidus about this, and even though he never had seen Saba he saw him on the horizon laughing. That Shabos this guy was learning Rabbi Nachman's stories and he was overcome with sleep, and he saw Saba laughing, he asked Saba to tell him a novelty on the story he had been reading, and Saba told him that the Story of the Wise man and the Simpleton - Wise - ChaChamM is acronym for 3 selfish desires. Kuvoad - honor, Chuchma - wisdom, Mumoan - money. Simpleton - HaTaM is acronym for [Likutay] Halachos, [Likutay] Tefilos, [Likutay] Moharan. Saba told him something else, the whole Shabos he tried to remember it so that he could write it down, but it wasn't meant to be - he forgot it. Saba appeared to him the following Shabos and the third Shabos. This guy also has seen Rabbainu.

Other news, there's a Breslov Yeshiva in Pekein - the town where Rashb"i and his son hid in the cave, where the boys start the day at midnight and try to follow the ways of Rabbainu. There are no rabbis, and the guy in charge does not go with any honors. One of the boys is Shivi Kellers son, Kfir. Recently some of the boys strengthened themselves and they were learning between 100 - 160 pages of Likutay Halachos every day out loud (10-16 hours a day). B"H may H'Y bless them and all of us to know and to live the Torah of Rabbainu.

Parshas Divorim

Moshe Rabbainu searched for "nivoanim" but could not find any, even though his generation was the most elite, known as the generation of knowledge. Rabbainu revealed that he is the quality of Bina!

Barukh Dayan HaEmes

My holy father is no longer in the world of the living. I am happy he went on Hey Menachem Av - the hillula of the Ari"chai, he is in good company. Talmud says that souls who depart on Erev Shabbos go directly to Gan Eden. Na Nach Nachma Nachman Meuman.

Awesome novelty - How the 13 Attributes of Mercy are an Anagram for Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!

Weekly Torah Portion - Devorim - Words

In this weeks Parsha, Moshe Rabbainu criticizes the Children of Israel, Rash”i brings from Our Sages OBM that just as Father Yaakov (Jacob) and the Prophet Shmuel (Samuel), Moshe Rabbainu saved all his criticism until he was about to die (Rashi mentions 4 reasons for this), in Hebrew the words for near death are סמוך למיתה, the word “to death” can be rearranged to spell תהלים – Tehilim – Psalms – which as we know has the numerical value of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman – the root of all song. This is in congruence with what Rabbainu revealed in Likutay Moharan (vol. 2, Torah 8) that the only productive way of criticism is with the Song that is Single, Double, Triple, and Quadruple, this is the meaning of giving rebuke with the approach of death, meaning with the approach of Tehilim!

There is another deep concept here, as someone pointed out to me, Rabbainu it the 4th teaching uses the word death to represent the confession of ones faults to The Tzadik. Here The Tzadik, Moshe Rabbainu is dying and he enumerates their sins – something to think about.

Great blessings of Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman!

True Pity is for Lack of Spirituality

It is very easy to have pity on someone in this physical world. When people see a man that is hungry and thirsty or is undergoing similar suffering, they have great pity on him. Similarly, a person that goes undressed or barefoot, there is great pity on him as well. It is for this reason that the everyone chases after the objects and goals of the physical world.

However someone that has eyes and sees souls after their arrival in the Next World, will have even greater pity on them. In the Next World there are men that go completely undressed and it is impossible to have mercy on them. Here in This World when a man is lacking clothes, it is possible to fundraise charity and create garments for him. However in the Next World it is impossible to help a person that goes undressed. Over there no mercy helps since the only clothing a soul can wear is Torah and Mitzvos and for this no mercy can help.

Still, a person that managed to attach himself to a True Tzadik during his life, can run to this Tzadik and take a garment from him so he may dress himself.
(Sichos Haran 23)

Mincha Gedola

In the scheme of the 6,000 years of the world, where every 1,000 years is considered one day, Today, Rosh Chodesh Av was Mincha Gedola of Friday.

As you might know, Mincha is the same letters as Nachman (if you multiply the Hay by 10 to make a Nun), and Mincha is very much to do with Rabbainu, as it was instituted by Yitzchok and is an aspect of hisbodidus.

Things are warming up for Nanach!

Moshe L. Nanach who is currently manning the Keren's Nanach store in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem was maced twice by the Zilbermans. He says that this is a sign that he must do Teshuva.

Nanach Mezuza?!

Last week I met with a certain mayfitz who told me that he was just in Hungary doing hafatza, many of the houses he visited did not have mezuzas, he did not have mezuzas to give them (also I do not know if they were willing or interested), so he stuck small Nanach stickers on their doorpost. Rabbainu Na Nach Nachma Nachman MeUman is the the Mezuza!

At the Western Wall Day before month of Av, father vessels, 1 and 2, with Na Nach Nachma Nachman we have also GAD, 3 and 4, complete rebuilding

B"H this Shabos I had a flash of inspiration and merited to reveal an awesome mind boggling find.
